The Chinese Guanyu Zhou, current protagonist of the F2, would debut in 2022 in the F1 hand in hand with the team Alfa Romeo. The 22-year-old would thus become the Finn's teammate Valtteri Bottas.

In this way, the Italian-Swiss team would change its line-up completely since currently its drivers are Finnish Kimi Raikkonen, who will retire at the end of the year; and italian Antonio Giovinazzi, which would lower his thumb.

Guanyu ZhouZhou, who has belonged to the Alpine Academy And he has already carried out several tests with the French team, he does not want to miss the possibility of reaching the Maximum next year. For this, he has the support of a good number of companies in his country and, in addition, a very good record in the F2. In fact, he is one of the candidates for the title.

According to Motorsport, the agreement between Alfa Romeo Racing and Zhou would already be closed and it only remains to be signed in order to make the official announcement.

“Zhou is doing a good job in Formula 2 and he is on our list. But that is not only because he is Chinese, but because of his prominence in F.2. He won some races and I think there are other F.1 teams that are looking at him ”, I assure Fred vasseur, team manager, to the English site.

Likewise, the team-manager acknowledged that they also take into account the French Theo Pourchaire, which his own team sponsors. However, the lack of experience behind the wheel of an F.1 would work against him.
