El Puma Energy Rally Team It is now ready for its official debut in the off-road world which it arrives to face in 2022 the most extreme challenge: the Dakar rally. As part of the preparation program, the Paraguayan pilot Andrea Lafarja will participate this weekend of the Baja Spain Aragon, valid competition for FIA Bajas Cross Country World Cup.
Lafarja and his Argentine navigator Eugenio Arrieta They participated today in the shakedown that took place in Masía Pelarda, 18 kilometers from the epicenter of the competition. There he could have his first contact with the prototype Borgward BX7 DKR assisted by Wevers Sports.
“The truck is 100 points. I am at 40 percent because it has things I have yet to learn about how it works. The Borgward BX7 DKR brakes and accelerates very well. My only problem is that it doesn't have a turbo; That's why I brake very suddenly and then it's hard for me to get out. But I'm happy ... I have no words. I knew I was going to find a really good truck, but not like this one! It is a vehicle to go fast, but also to respect ”, the pilot explained.
While Erik Wevers, head of the team, highlighted: “We are surprised with the result of this test. Andrea adapted perfectly to the Borgward BX7 DKR even though it is her first experience in a T1. His speed and handling technique were not surprising. He will have no problem meeting our first objective: reaching the end of the race to add a good amount of kilometers ”.
The 2021 edition of the Baja España Aragón will start this Friday on a special test of 180 kilometers. While on Saturday it will have its final on two selective, the first with 112,910 km and the remaining with 208,360 km.
