On the eve of the 38th edition of the Rally Argentina, competition organized by the Automobile Club Argentino and that will be held from April 26 to 29 on the roads of Córdoba, it is good to remember that historic victory that he achieved Jorge Recalde in the edition of 1988. That triumph allowed the Cordovan to be the only driver from the American continent to win in the WRC.
"I will try to do things as usual, the best I can, and my pretensions are the same: to win since I run for that", said the Condor de Traslasierra before the start of the seventh Rally Marlboro Argentina. His full confidence lay in that he was in the official Lancia team, which at that time was a reference in the specialty.
Thanks to superb and error-free work with your navigator Jorge Del Buono, the Cordoba achieved his goal and left his Italian partner behind Miki biasion, who had just won the two previous editions of the Argentine rally. The podium was completed by the Austrian Franz wittmann with another Lancia.

But that was not the only success of local Recalde since also celebrated in 1995, when the race awarded points for the defunct F2 for cars with two-wheel drive and two-liter engines.
The one from Mina Clavero competed again with a Lancia from Group A, more powerful than the F-2s, and it was easy for him to win. That podium was completed by the Uruguayan Gustavo Trelles (Lancia) and the Paraguayan Marco Galanti (Toyota).
