This is the exclusive watch of the 911 more powerful and faster

Porsche Design Chronograph 911 GT2 RS

As part of the ongoing “Porsche Design for Porsche Projects” collaborations, Porsche Design offers a watch made to measure for a sports car, for the second time in its history. Its about Porsche Design Chronograph 911 GT2 RS, which is available exclusively to owners of the new 911 GT2 RS who appreciate performance and exclusivity, thus approaching their personal dream of a perfect sports car.

The high-end car and chronograph can be ordered exclusively from Porsche Centers around the world. Each of them will be manufactured according to the specifications of the customer's individual order (according to the vehicle identification number) and will be delivered together. As a result of this program, Porsche Design brings the unique identity of the vehicle to the driver's wrist.

The flyback chronograph features the new internal mechanism machinery of Porsche Design, Caliber Werk 01.200, which is certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). This function allows the chronograph second hand to stop, reset and restart instantly with the push of a button to measure intermediate and full lap times.

With this masterpiece, Porsche Design reapplies its vast engineering advances to even the smallest mechanical masterpiece, achieving an unparalleled synergy between the two worlds. Like all the brand's exclusive styling products, the automatic movement mechanism was designed through the highest demands of performance and ease of use.

As a result of the heat-treated coil spring, the mechanism provides additional constant force transmission, among other features, to optimize speed accuracy under difficult conditions over a long period of time. Such a condition occurs, for example, when the stopwatch is stopped on the race track.

Just as wheels transfer power from a car engine to the road, the rotor of the motion mechanism is crucial for generating and transferring mechanical energy in an automatic motion mechanism. Consequently, and with a love for detail, the rotor is designed to resemble the wheel rims of the 911 GT2 RS.

The skeletal rotor, however, presented a particular engineering challenge, due to its reduced surface area and weight. Because of this, Porsche Design used tungsten to manufacture the rotor - an innovative but difficult to process material. The typical central locking system of a Porsche car with RS logo connects the rotor with the movement mechanism, just like its larger counterpart.

In addition, the Porsche Development Center for Motorsport was the catalyst in the design of the barrel bridge. In order to implement Porsche's lightweight design, the bridges were perfected for load / stress. The architecture of the mechanism is designed to reveal the fascinating operation of the technically complex flyback function. The Caliber Werk 01.200 is not only the first mechanism manufactured by the brand, but also obtained high precision certifications in all positions by the COSC.

Thanks to its sporty design, the 42-millimeter titanium case is immediately the center of attention. Like the sports car, painted in GT Metallic Silver with black accents, the black titanium carbide coating on the chronograph bezel and caseback emulates the car's two-tone scheme.

A mechanical function display with the “911 GT2 RS” logo indicates the proper functioning of the mechanism and replaces the small seconds at the 9 o'clock position. The tachymeter scale, located at the top of the inner bezel, allows the calculation of average speeds, a function created for the racetrack.

The Porsche Design Chronograph 911 GT2 RS comes with two leather straps: one in black leather / Alcantara and one in red leather / Alcantara. Thanks to the interchangeable strap system, both can be easily changed. By using Alcantara, Porsche Design redraws the parallel with the sports car. The titanium folding clasp extends the principle of lightness to a reliable fastening system. The sports car and chronograph are inseparably linked to the car's VIN, which will be laser engraved on the watch's titanium case.
