Iron streets: Av. Avellaneda 1841

Juan Galvez (1)
Today the house located on Avenida Avellaneda 1841, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Caballito, perhaps goes unnoticed by the common people. However, at one time it was one of the most visited in the neighborhood. Juan Gálvez, the most champion driver in the history of Road Tourism, lived there.

In that house, Juan got tired of preparing the cars with which he overwhelmed the popular category. However, it was not a place where anyone could enter. Only a few very trusted friends were invited to the workshop to watch him work.

Juan was born on February 14, 1916 - exactly 100 years ago - and died on March 3, 1963 as a result of an accident he suffered in Olavarría.

His career as a pilot in the TC spanned 13 years and 4 months. In that period he played 153 competitions, achieving 56 victories and 9 championships (1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958 and 1960), figures never equaled.
