Citroën made the worldwide launch of the Citroën C5 X, which is situated in the D segment but with elements that frame it between a saloon, a station wagon and an SUV. It will be launched later this year in Europe, while it will arrive somewhat earlier in China, since it will be produced in that country.
“With the C5 X, Citroën has created a great ambitious vehicle, a true tool to win over customers increasingly inclined to explore the world. A bold and original proposal that really frames the entire experience of the firm: innovation, care and above all well-being ", he claimed Vicent Cobée, CEO of Citroën.
Inspired by the prototype CXperienceUnveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, the new C5 X renews the codes of the D-segment models with a fastback body that combines a sedan with a station wagon.
Likewise, the model has 545 liters of space in the trunk, which reach 1.640 liters when the seats are folded down. Among other elements, the tailgate is motorized and has a hands-free function.
To its habitability are added other aspects that are in tune with the philosophy Citroën Advanced Comfort like the soft care of the seats Advanced Comfort or the use of the exclusive Progressive Hydraulic Dampers involving active sleep with three setup modes.
The C5 X has a great technological arsenal. An entirely new communications interface is highlighted around a 12-inch central touch screen that relies on natural speech recognition and Extended Head Up Display, a color projection system that simulates a 21-inch screen on the windshield.
“With its innovative styling that combines the elegance of a saloon, the dynamism of a station wagon and the robustness of an SUV, the C5 X embodies the boldness of Citroën style. Its unique morphology, its aerodynamic lines and a modern light signature make it a true Citroën, immediately recognizable on the road. "He stressed Pierre Leclercq, director of brand design.
Citroën's new car will be available with gasoline engines and plug-in hybrids. In this case, the model will reach the 225 horsepower, more than 50 kilometers of autonomy in zero emission mode just like the current C5 Aircross.
“With C5 X, we wanted to provide an emotional and rational response to customers in the D segment, who are looking for modernity, refinement, comfort and versatility. With its unique body style, increased comfort, its plug-in hybrid engine and innovations, the C5 X offers pleasure and peace of mind in true Citroën style ”, Anadio Laurence hansen, Director of Strategy and Product of the company.
Citroën will open the receipt of orders for the new C5 X in Europe from next October, so the first units will arrive at the end of 2021 or at the beginning of next year. In China, the vehicle will be marketed earlier.
