As part of exploring new ways to bring fans closer to World Rally action, Toyota GAZOO Racing and Microsoft launch EchoCam, an entirely new service that connects photos taken by Toyota fans and video shot from within. of the Yaris WRC. This new connectivity tool will debut at the upcoming Neste Rally Finland 2017, which will take place from July 27 to 30.
All Toyota GAZOO Racing Yaris WRCs will be equipped with an on-board camera to record images from the vehicle's point of view of fans located on selected special stages. As the Yaris WRC passes by, fans can take photos with their smartphones and upload their favorite image to the EchoCam website.
The Yaris WRCs, in turn, will respond with a video clip generated by EchoCam, captured from the point of view of the vehicle, at the exact moment the photo was taken from the time codes of the fan's smartphone. In addition, at various stages of Rally Finland, fans will have the opportunity to enter an “EchoCam Photo Booth”.
EchoCam is part of the Connected Yaris WRC Project, powered by Toyota GAZOO Racing and Microsoft Co. Ltd. with the aim of offering a new way of watching rallies, connecting the audience with WRC vehicles.
Going forward, Toyota GAZOO Racing will continue to use Microsoft technologies to develop Yaris WRC data analysis platforms and will use these systems to disseminate information about the team's activities.[sam_pro id = 0_1 codes = ”true”]
