The global demand for the new Ford Mustang 2018 has led the legendary model to establish itself as the world's best-selling sports car for the third consecutive year with a total of 125.809 registrations. The data arises from a survey carried out by IHS Markit.
Of the nearly 126.000 registrations, 81.866 were made in the United States, where Mustang is manufactured, which means that just over a third of these patents take place in export markets.
Ford sold 13.100 Mustangs in Europe last year, according to the company's own data, and outsold the Porsche 911 in 13 European markets. The countries where the Mustang swept were Germany (5.742) United Kingdom (2.211) France (942) Belgium (900) y Sweden (512).
Demand also remains particularly strong in China, where Mustang was the best-selling sports car last year with 7.125 registrations.
Since world exports began in 2015, Ford has sold 418.000 Mustangs worldwide. The most popular configuration is the Mustang GT with 8-liter V5.0 engine.
