El Monaco Grand Prix de 2022 will be disputed in three days, like the rest of the appointments on the calendar F1 y not in four as was the case according to tradition in the Principality.
"Monaco will take place in three days: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, instead of Thursday, rest on Friday, and then Saturday and Sunday", explained Stefano Domenicali to CNN.
The Monaco GP, historical test of the F.1, had until now the particularity of starting a day earlier, with free trials organized on Thursday instead of Friday.
This tradition dates back to the first editions of the Monegasque test, which was held the weekend following the Ascension Day, according to the Christian religion.
Since that holiday falls on a Thursday, it made sense for there to be activity on that day for two reasons: to allow spectators to go and to avoid cutting off city traffic on a workday.
Likewise, Domenicali assured that "The plan is to have 23 races" in 2022, which is a record number, after 22 Grand Prix organized in 2021, and the end of the season "Sooner", before December as is the case this year.
The 2022 calendar, of which transcended a draft, will be officially announced next October 15 after the meeting of the World Motor Sport Council of the International Automobile Federation.
