The legendary General Lee

This orange Dodge Charger with the 01 painted on its sides was the star of the TV series "The Dukes of Hazzard".

On January 26, 1979, the American network CBS premiered a series called "The dukes of hazzard" that told the story of two cousins, Bo y Luke duke, who fight against the injustice of the county of Hazzard and the evils of a corrupt commissioner by name Jefferson Davis "Boss" Hogg and his right hand, the commissioner Rosco P. Coltrane.

The legendary General LeeAlready in that first episode there was something that caught the public's attention. Do not sculpt it cousin daisy, but the Dodge Charger 1969 model in orange with the 01 painted on the doors, which were welded; and the flag of the Confederate States of America on the roof.

The car even had a name: General lee, in honor of that soldier who led the Confederate army during the Civil War (1861 to 1865). During the six years the series aired, about 300 copies of Dodge Charger from 1968, 1969 and 1970.

The large number is due to the fact that in all episodes General Lee was demanded to the maximum, especially when it jumped several meters and fell heavily damaging its structure of the vehicle. Some cars were repaired and others were directly destroyed. To save costs in the last chapters images previously issued were directly put.

The production had three Chargers that were used for the less risky scenes called Lee 1, Lee 2 and Read 3. The first two had fixed roll cages and the remaining one, which was used for close-ups and interiors, a removable safety structure. The Lee 1 was auctioned in 2012 at a price of $ 120.000.
