The wonderful world of Peugeot Design Lab

Peugeot Design Lab

Peugeot Design Lab, the design laboratory of the car brand del león, has been manufacturing all kinds of elements since 2012, from pianos to surfboards, through yachts, boats, helicopters, bicycles, scooters, pinwheels, sofas or lamps.

This ideas factory designs its products both for well-known companies and for people who seek exclusivity under the highest standards of quality and innovation.

In the field of transport, which is the division closest to its role as a vehicle manufacturer, the lion brand highlights the H160 helicopter created jointly with Airbus or the “foodtruck” Le bistro du Lion, which opens recreating a cafeteria, a restaurant and even a party room.

The Peugeot Design Lab has also created, together with the Alstom company, the Strasbourg city tram; a 35-meter catamaran destined for offshore research for JFA Yachts; and a surfboard to celebrate Peugeot's presence at the Goodwood festival inspired by the 208 GTI, the RCZ R and the Onyx concept car.

In the scooters and skateboards section, the most outstanding creations are the Hybrid Kick, electric and ultra-foldable skateboard created jointly with Micro; and the hybrid superscooter with three wheels Onyx, with two types of driving - urban and sport - that modify the adjustment of the seats to make the driving sensation more dynamic or more comfortable.

As for bicycles, there are the AE21 (hybrid and that simulates the skin of a shark), the EDL132 (electric and with the shape of an arc in tension, which makes it Peugeot's fastest bicycle); the competition Onyx (with a monocoque carbon frame and 80-millimeter high wheels made of the same material outlined for high-level sport); and the DL121, a combination of ride and competition.

In the field of leisure, the Peugeot design laboratory has produced a piano, made jointly with the firm Pleyel; or a Pecqueur Conceptuals watch, as well as modernist jewelery and collectible figurines with the Peugeot lion as the protagonist signed by well-known artists.

The prototypes of cars cannot be lacking either, such as the Exalt, a saloon with a body that combines steel with efficient fabrics such as the Shark Skin, inspired by the structure of shark skin. It is powered by a Hybrid4 traction that develops 340 horsepower. Other surprising concepts are the Onyx supercar, powered by a 8-horsepower V680 Hybrid HDI Fap engine, and the exclusive HX1 limousine.

The mills, which Peugeot has manufactured since 1810, as well as saws, sewing machines or tool boxes, are also not lacking in the Peugeot Design Lab catalog.
