The first-generation BMW X5 laid the foundation for the completely new SAV vehicle category almost two decades ago. In the coming fourth generation, new suspension and traction systems are introduced, which are available for the first time on a BMW X model and are practically unique.
The new off-road package, for example, offers an impressive combination of the highest level driving comfort on the road and pPossibility to change vehicle settings with the push of a button to adapt to off-road driving conditions perfectly. Whether it's snow, sand, rocks or gravel roads, the new BMW X5 has the perfect powertrain and suspension setup for every surface.
The prototypes demonstrated the dynamism of the new BMW X5 at the winter test center in Arjeplog (Sweden), on the gravel tracks of South Africa and in the desert dune landscapes of the United States. In them they were subjected to the maximum cold and scorching heat.
As these endurance tests demonstrate part of the car's unmistakable character, the test series was also carried out on terrains as varied as the BMW Group test track at Miramas in the south of France, on the high-speed circuit in Talladega in the US state of Alabama and at the Nürburgring.
The information and insights gained thus far show that the new BMW X5 meets the highest demands in terms of agility, precision, control and comfort, especially thanks to the new suspension and integral active steering, which is also offered for the first time. on a model X.
