Rally Monza joins the 2021 WRC calendar

The competition, which will include special tests at the legendary Italian racetrack, will replace Rally Japan.

The organizers of World Rally Championship They found a substitute for Rally Japan, a competition that was going to close the 2021 calendar, but which was canceled as in 2020 due to the pandemic of coronavirus.

The race that will take its place, although it does not yet have a date or confirmed route, will be the Monza Rally, which will include action in the mythical italian circuit.

It will be the second consecutive year that the event is part of the WRC, a championship that in the last two seasons has had to adapt to the new normal of the pandemic.

The 2020 Monza Rally, which lowered the curtain on the last tournament, was won by the French Sébastien Ogier (Toyota), who secured its seventh crown in the specialty.

With this decision it is confirmed that this championship will have twelve competitions. While waiting for more details to be announced on the Monza Rally and its location on the calendar, the final part of the contest also includes the Rally Finland, from October 1 to 3; and the Rally of Spain, from the 14th to the 17th of next month.
