A few weeks ago Renault presented the Kangoo ZE and so it became the first automotive company to market an electric vehicle in our country. Although it is intended solely for companies, this experience speaks clearly of the future plans of the Rombo.
Convinced of the need to have a low-cost car for emerging markets, at Renault began with the development in China of an electric motor variant of the Kwid, a model launched in Argentina at the end of last year and equipped with a 1.0-liter engine and 66 HP of power.
"We are going to make bigger electric cars, but we are developing a small electric car in China that we could sell at some point in other countries."said Thierry Koskas, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Grupo Renault recently.
“Today I would say that 95% of the electric cars we sell are for Europe. What we want to do is get out of Europe and sell electric vehicles in any country ”, added the executive, who was president of the brand's Argentine subsidiary until the end of 2015.
The electric Kwid “made in China” would be ready for 2019 and by the end of that year it would begin to be marketed in Brazil. The next step would be to sell it in Argentina, something that is supported by the reduction of taxes for hybrid and electric cars.
