As a consequence of the delicate situation that exists in the Argentina y Brazil for the pandemic of coronavirus, the electrical category Extreme E decided to cancel the presentations he planned to make in South America at the end of 2021 within the framework of the closing of its first season.
The original plan of the series created by the Spanish businessman Alexander Agag was to dispute the X Prix of Amazonas, between October 23 and 24; and the X Prix of Patagonia, December 11 and 12.
"After monitoring the global situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was decided to postpone the visit to the region for the second season", the organizers of the contest explained.
“This decision has not been made lightly. The current recommendations and travel restrictions have prevented us from visiting the race areas in advance to carry out the necessary reconnaissance ”, Agag explained.
As a substitute for these two competitions, the Extreme E evaluates competing in the Western islands in November coinciding with the COP26, the conference of the United Nations on climate change to be held in Glasgow.
