This Tuesday will not be another day for Alpine, brand that joins the F1 using the structure of Renault. However, it will not be a full release as the Spanish Fernando Alonso, its star driver, will not be present at the event.
The reason was already spread by the team itself last week: the restrictions that exist in Great Britain due to the coronavirus pandemic. But to make everything clearer, the Asturian himself reinforced the message through a video.
"Hello everybody! As you know I will not be at the Alpine team presentation this Tuesday in the UK. As a result of the current travel restrictions from Switzerland it is very difficult to travel, but in any case I will follow virtually like everyone else, so it doesn't matter if I'm not there physically, explained the two-time F.1 champion, who returns to the top flight after two years of absence.
Alonso, who a couple of weeks ago suffered a bicycle accident while training in Switzerland, claimed to be "Looking forward to showing you the new car, the new colors, the new competition divers ... So very excited and see you very soon."
At the launch, the appearance and final decoration of the Alpine A521, such as the name of the vehicle conceived on the basis of the Renault RS20 with which the Rombo achieved fifth place in the 2020 Constructors' Cup. Alonso's teammate will be the Frenchman Esteban Ocon, who is facing his fifth season in the specialty.
And while our friend @alo_oficial can't physically be with us, rest assured he is paying close attention!
