His performance was very good: he started fifth and came to lead, but the engine Honda he played a trick on him and he left.

The rematch came in 2019 and this time with a team that specially armed him McLaren. It all ended in a fiasco since it could not even secure a place in the grid of 33 participants.

For this new experience, the Asturian will have as companions the Americans Alex rossi, who won the test in 2016; to his compatriot Ryan Hunter-Reay y Marco Andretti.

Alonso's goal with this participation is to imitate English Graham hill, the only one who achieved the Triple Crown thanks to his triumphs in the Monaco Grand Prix of F.1, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Indy 500.

The Iberian won in the streets of Monte Carlo in 2006, with Renault; and 2007, with McLaren. In addition, he scored a double victory at Le Mans in 2018 and 2019 with Toyota. Now he just needs to win in the Yankee oval and toast with a sip of milk to show that he is the best pilot in the world.
