
Ferrari confirmed that he will run in the senior class of the World Endurance, that of hypecars, from 2023. In this way, the Maranello constructor will return to the top category of endurance racing for the first time since 1973.
The prestigious Italian brand will thus face Toyota, Glickenhaus, Peugeot , Porsche y Audi, builders who have already pledged their participation in the LMh, which will premiere this season.
Ferrari has a long and illustrious history in endurance racing, and particularly in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The manufacturer has won the mythical test nine times, the last in 1965 as part of the famous battles with Ford from the 1960s.
In recent years, however, he has been very successful in category GT Le Mans, winning the category for the last time GTE Pro in 2019 with a Ferrari 488 GTE Evo. The brand also achieved the title FIA WEC LMGTE Pro four times.
"With the new Le Mans Hypercar program, Ferrari once again reaffirms its sporting commitment and its determination to be the protagonist of the main world motorsport events", he claimed John Elkann, president of Ferrari.
