For the first time in history, Formula 1 will have two safety cars and two medical cars of different brands. A Mercedes, which has accompanied the category since 1996, joins this year Aston Martin, who returns to the specialty with his own team after more than 60 years.
The German company had a Mercedes AMG GT R, which accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.6 seconds, to act as a safety car; while doctor car is a Mercedes C 63 S. Both will be painted red in tribute to their racing car Rote Sau.
In the case of the British brand, your safety car will be the Vantage that accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds; while the medical vehicle will be the DBX. Both with the characteristic green hue of the Gaydon house.
“We are very pleased to announce our new partnership with Aston Martin and Mercedes-AMG to provide the official medical and safety cars for the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. Safety and medical cars are a very important part of Formula 1 and they are always there to keep our drivers safe ”, he claimed Stefano Domenicali, president and CEO of the F.1.
It is worth noting that Mercedes and Aston Martin have a very close relationship from various collaboration projects, so it is not surprising that this alliance now reaches Formula 1.
