Formula E returns to action with six races in Berlin

The 2019/2020 season will resume in August at Tempelhof Airport with half a dozen competition in nine days.

The old German airport in Tempelhof. as Berlin, was chosen to close the sixth season of the electric car category Formula E with three double rounds to be performed on days August 5 and 6, 8 and 9 and 12 and 13.

Each pair of runs will use one different track configuration, which presents opportunities for different strategies and the conditions for unpredictable and exciting races.

Formula E had already contested five races before the season was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak. Portuguese Antonio Felix da Costa, team driver D.S. Techeetah, leads the championship, but with only 11 points of advantage over his closest rival, the New Zealander Mitch Evans (Panasonic Jaguar Racing).

The three double rounds in Berlin will complete the modified schedule of the sixth season of the specialty, which in this way will complete eleven tests.

TempelhofFormula E and International Automobile Federation They have been working in close consultation with the teams and local authorities to define a solid plan for a safe finish to the championship.

To mitigate risk, the series will implement strict security measures such as holding competitions behind closed doors and allowing only essential personnel to be present on site.

According to German government guidelines, there will be a maximum of 1.000 people in the circuit, including local suppliers and medical teams, while each Formula E team may have 20 people. All other operations will be carried out remotely. The health and safety protocol includes mandatory coronavirus testing before races, as well as on-site checks every day when you hit the track.

Formula E will also actively enforce the use of face masks, social distancing and limit movement through workspaces with clearly defined zones for different members of the event.
