The Spanish Maverick Viñales, rider of the official Yamaha MotoGP team, started the 2021 season of the Motorcycle World Championship on the right foot after winning the Qatar Grand Prix that was played in the circuit of Losail.
Viñales, who achieved his ninth victory in the premier class of the two wheels, was escorted by the French Johann Zarco, with the Ducati del Pramac Racing; and the Italian poleman Francesco Bagnaia, and with a Official Ducati.
The Spanish Joan Mir (Suzuki) came close to getting on the podium in his first race defending the champion title. He finished fourth after being overtaken by Zarco and Bagnaia, who took advantage of the speed of their motorcycles to leave him behind.
The Italian Valentino Rossi, who made his debut for the Petronas SRT team, started 4th and crossed the finish line in 12th position.
En Moto2 English won Sam Lowes (Kalex); while in Moto3 the Spanish celebrated Jaume Masia (KTM). The next date will be April 4 with the Doha GP, again in Losail.
