Tuscany GP: Valtteri Bottas, Friday's reference

The Finn led both Formula 1 tests at the Italian Mugello circuit.

La F1 took action for the first time on the Italian circuit of Mugello, scene of Grand Prix of Tuscany. The great dominator of this first day of the ninth round of the World Cup was the Finn Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes), who led the two trials.

La Máxima took to the track with a reference time of PM1:18.704, scored in a 2004 test by the Brazilian Rubens Barrichello in his days as a Ferrari driver. This record was easily pulverized and improved in almost two seconds by Bottas. The Nordic established in the first trial PM1:17.879 and in the second round he nailed the stopwatch on 1: 16.989.

“It was a really fun day and I enjoyed every lap. The entire opening section with the high-speed chicanes and the second sector are simply incredible ”, Bottas said of this first experience at Mugello.

Hamilton was also very excited about the track which he described as "Intense, fast and challenging". In fact, he assured that, “There is no time to play… It is one of the most physically demanding circuits that I have driven in recent times. Love it".

In the final session the Mexican Sergio Pérez (Racing Point) got the scare of the day when he found the Finn Kimi Raikkonen (Alfa Romeo) at the exit of the pit in a blind spot. Fortunately, there were no serious consequences ...
