Saudi Arabia happens to be, from this weekend, the 34th country different in receiving a Formula 1 Grand Prix. The competition is the 21st and penultimate date of the 2021 season of the Maximum, so there could be an anticipated champion. All attention will be on the Dutch Max Verstappen (Red Bull), leader of the tournament; and English Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), her escort.

The stage of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is Jeddah street map, built in record time. It is the second consecutive new track of the year after losail, in Qatar, although we are talking about two completely different tracks in terms of stress on the tires (the Qatari has been one of the most demanding on the calendar in lateral forces). The Saudi runway will be a new experience for everyone as their works have only just finished and very little information is available.

jeddahAll the data from simulations of the teams pointed to the pneumatic compounds of the middle zone as the best option for a fast and tack track, which must be covered 50 times in the race. For this spectacular new addition, Pirelli will have three compounds from the mid-range of its range: C2 as P Zero White (hard), C3 like P Zero Yellow (medium) and C4 as P Zero Red (soft). This is the most repeated designation of the season.

The track is the work of the well-known circuit architect Herman Tilke and is located near the area of Corniche of Jeddah. Their 6.174 meters –Laced along the coast– rank it as the longest urban route on the calendar (and second at all, after Spa), but at the same time it is expected to be one of the fastest circuits, with averages higher than those 250 km/h in simulations. So he would stay very close to Monza.

Of the 27 curves containing one of the most demanding is number 13: a left with a 12º cant and in which the tires will experience great forces G. Jeddah, by the way, has more turns than any other circuit in the world, which forces the tires to work incessantly.

Jeddah F1Many parts of the track are very narrow and do not forgive mistakes, with walls located very close to the limits. This situation leads us to think that there will be a high possibility of the appearance of the safety car, with what this implies in terms of strategy.

It will be played at night, with scheduled start at 20.30:XNUMX (local time). For this reason, the asphalt temperatures will be different from those of a normal race, decreasing as each session progresses. Free practice 1 and 3 will be held shortly after sunset, and only the second round and the official training sessions (both sessions at 20:00 p.m.) will take place at a representative time for Sunday.

Warm and humid conditions are expected, as it is next to the coast. Being a completely new asphalt, the track will be very green at the start of the weekend. The presence of F.2 and Porsche will help accelerate its evolution.

This will be the first opportunity that Verstappen will have to define the title in his favor. For that, he has to arrive at the Abu Dhabi GP, on 12/12, with a 26-point advantage over Hamilton.
