2021 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix: Everything you need to know

Formula 1 returns to Imola to contest the second date of its championship.

This weekend F1 returns to action with the second edition of Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna, a competition that debuted last year at the Máxima and that has the Italian circuit of Imola as the stage.

The competition will start on Sunday at 15 (10 from Argentina), although the activity on Friday and Saturday suffered schedule changes to avoid overlaps with the funeral of the Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Lewis Hamilton Imola 2020The circuit is quite narrow on a multitude of points, which complicates overtaking and puts the emphasis on strategy. The tactics used last year were influenced by a late appearance of the safety car (coupled with an interruption at the start), and that allowed the winner, the English Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) use all three compounds (starting with the middle).

If the neutralizations had not occurred, the option to a single stop would have been the majority, especially if we consider the long time that is invested in the pit lane (25 seconds).

Despite being resurfaced before the 2020 Grand Prix, Imola (a track that turns counterclockwise) has not lost its bumpy surface and some very tall pianos, circumstances that punish both drivers and single-seaters.
