2021 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix: Valtteri Bottas left Lewis Hamilton wanting

The Finn from Mercedes was the fastest in the two free practice sessions with the champion in second place.

The 2021 edition of Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna, second date of the World Cup F1 that has the circuit of Imola as a stage, he had his first day of activity in which he dominated the Finnish Valtteri Bottas.

The team driver Mercedes He was forceful in dominating both practices, which were interrupted by different red flags. In the first he set 1m16s564, leading by only 41/1000 over his partner, the English champion Lewis Hamilton.

In the second outing to the Italian track, the Nordic managed to improve his previous record with 1m15s551 and once again left his teammate behind by only 10/000.

In the first trial the Black Arrows were followed by the Dutch Max Verstappen (Red Bull), who was 58/1000 of the fastest. This session was marked by the touch between the Mexican Sergio Pérez (Red Bull) and the French Esteban Ocon (Alpine) that caused a red flag.

In the last contact of the day with the track, Verstappen could not fight for the first position after a mechanical problem that marginalized him after a few minutes. This ended a few minutes before due to an oversight from the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), which prompted a new red flag.

The activity will continue on Saturday with a new test and the classification that will be ordered by the starting grid of the Sunday competition, which will start at 10 in Argentina.
