La F1 added a new winner to his list: the Mexican Sergio Pérez, who also gave the first triumph in the specialty to Racing Point. The Aztec's success came after starring in a touch in the first round that took him to last place.

Pérez, whose sporting future in the category is still uncertain because at the end of the year he leaves the team and has no confirmed place, was escorted by the French Esteban Ocon (Renault) and the Canadian Lance stroll (Racing Point).

The Aztec starred in a memorable competition since in the initial round he was "out of combat" after a touch of the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) that forced him to go through the pits and finish last in the peloton.

Despite this incident, Checo did not lower his arms and was recovering positions until he took advantage of the “gift” from Mercedes, who made a huge mistake when the Englishman George Russell, replacing his compatriot Lewis Hamilton, who tested positive for coronavirus; and the finnish Valtteri Bottas, who started from pole position, were on their way to the double.

The second arrest of the Black Arrows, which took place in the middle of a security car, was chaotic. Russell and Bottas entered the pits at the same time and both were fitted with the wrong tires, prompting them to make another compound change the next lap.

This left Pérez in first place; while Bottas and Russell restarted races fourth and fifth, respectively. The Englishman recovered quickly and reached the leader's tail, but a puncture forced him to a new arrest. That left Checo Pérez with the victory on a plate. Russell, meanwhile, finished ninth behind Bottas.

“Incredible the race. After the first corner I thought everything was lost… You have to enjoy today. This is F1. I really want to be here. If it is not 2021, it will be 2022 "stressed Pérez, who hopes that this victory will allow him to convince the Red Bull team, with whom he is negotiating, to give him a chance to be Verstappen's new teammate.
