Hyundai presented the Heritage Series Pony, a modern, retro-looking reinterpretation of the Hyundai pony original that marked the beginning of the Korean automobile industry more than 45 years ago.
The new version of this iconic model is part of the exhibition Reflections in Motion of the recently opened Hyundai Motor Studio Busan, in South Korea, like.
Legendary car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro conceived the first generation of the Pony. This model created by Hyundai was a personal mobility icon and its series production spanned from 1975 to 1990. It was also about first mass-produced vehicle in Korea and exported outside its borders.
The exterior of the Heritage Series Pony is characterized by the use of matte paint, shiny silver surfaces that extend from the front to the rear of the vehicle and a hatchback silhouette like the original.
Among the most prominent features are the camera-based exterior rear view mirrors and mounted on the side profiles of the front, the round and pixelated headlights, as well as the U-shaped taillights with LED lights.
Pixelated round headlights and U-shaped taillights represent the design focus Pixel Road Trip of the company, which incorporates pixels and eight-bit graphics, also used in the IONIQ 5 and in the 45 prototype.
The interior boasts a number of elegant and modern elements, such as doors made with high-quality materials that give off a classic air, a modern lighting system, a speedometer made from illuminated vacuum tubesas well as other distinctively adapted retro design elements.
The Heritage Series Pony is not only characterized by its retro style, it also contains future-oriented elements. The touch digital transmission, the space for the mobile phone and the voice activated steering wheel they convey a modern sensibility that will surprise everyone.
