Hyundai Motor Argentina took advantage of the Rally Argentina, which is held in the province of Córdoba, to present for the first time in the country the new Veloster Turbo that will be commercialized in the next months.
The heart of this model, featuring a complete exterior and interior redesign, powertrain enhancements and a host of new infotainment and connectivity features, is a 1.6 Turbo direct injection engine with 205 horsepower and 210 Nm of torque associated with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) with paddles at the wheel or a 6-speed manual.
This engine features Active Sound Design that enhances the sound of the intake and exhaust system inside the cabin for a more visceral driving experience, especially during extreme driving; and offers three selectable driving modes, Normal, Sport and Smart.
The Veloster fuses the attractive styling of a sports coupe with the versatility of an additional passenger-side tailgate in an asymmetric two-plus-one configuration for easier rear-seat access. Its redesign is characterized by improved proportions in its lines and a new silhouette shape that clearly conveys a dynamic performance enhanced by the front and rear LED lights. Among other details, the ceiling height was reduced and the new cascade-shaped grille, characteristic of the brand's new designs, stands out.
All Veloster models also offer Torque Vectoring Control (TVC). This feature is activated for cornering using the full capabilities of the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and other control systems, allowing the Veloster to improve cornering performance during more enthusiastic driving.
The TVC uses speed sensors coupled to the Stability Control to apply precise braking force during hard cornering. This active braking redirects power to the front wheel as you turn, reducing wheel camber to improve cornering grip and cornering acceleration. The Turbo version also features a faster ratio steering rack and differential steering calibration.
It is worth noting that the Veloster Turbo is equipped with a McPherson front suspension, coil springs, gas shock absorbers and a 24mm diameter front stabilizer bar. The multilink rear suspension is lightweight in design with a 19mm stabilizer bar and uses gas pressurized shocks for excellent control. It has electric power steering that adjusts assistance to different driving conditions while improving fuel economy, and 18-inch wheels.
For those Veloster fans, another good news: it is possible that the version N featuring exclusive exterior and interior design details such as the N-design rear spoiler, integrated diffuser, high-performance dual exhaust, 19-inch wheels, and sports seats, steering wheel and lever. It is equipped with a turbo 2.0 engine with 275 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque accompanied by a special 6-speed manual gearbox, and offers a wide range of tuning preferences through its N Control System drive mode selection system. .
Modes include Normal, Sport, N, Eco, and N Custom, differentiating engine throttle response, rev setting, exhaust note, active differential setting, suspension damping, steering feel, and differential characteristics allowing character preferences. Comprehensive driving directions through customizable settings.
