After committing to the hybrid era of the World Rally, Hyundai Motorsport you have put a prototype of your car to the test Rally1 for the first time. The test was carried out on land in the south of France.
After intensive preparation of the new car at the team base in Alzenau, the aim of the test was to understand the behavior of the car, its strengths and weaknesses and plan the next steps according to the conclusions of this first outing.
Based on the standard vehicle Hyundai i20 N, the new Rally1 car integrates the key technical characteristics and hybrid power, in accordance with the FIA regulations for next year's championship, as well as all the experience and learnings that the team has accumulated in recent seasons.
Hyundai Motorsport will accelerate the development of the i20 N-based car with an intensive plan of tests at different locations in Europe to evaluate it in different conditions and terrains, reflecting the variety of circumstances at the event. Its performance will be thoroughly evaluated over the next few months leaving nothing to chance before the debut in 2022.
“It is a special moment when you take a car on the road for the first time and, as always, there are some challenges to face. In the case of Rally1 2022 we started from scratch with completely new rules, a different concept and a new base model, the Hyundai i20 N "Said Andrea Adamo, responsible for Hyundai Motorsport.
“During the session we have seen interesting things, some that need to be changed and improved, but everything is part of the process and the work. The team has done an incredible and very hard job preparing the car for the first test in such a short time. Of course, we are at the beginning of a long journey, but I think we have interesting times ahead of us before the Monte Carlo Rally 2022 ”, Agregó.
