Jaguar is synonymous with UK style and a car manufacturer with a lot of history, which has been part of the Formula E almost from the very beginning of the electric single-seater series.
For Season 7 of the category, Sam bird left the team Virgin, with which he played the first six Formula E championships, to defend the colors of the Panasonic Jaguar Racing.
Bird, winner of nine races in the series, is very excited about what he can do with Jaguar when the new tournament starts and the team leader, James barclay, he knows very well the type of pilot he brought to accompany Mitch Evans.
“Sam is a driver who needs no introduction in Formula E, he has won races every season. He is someone who has a lot of spirit and character, his overtaking is legendary in Formula E too "Barclay said.
“He brings a lot of experience to the team and that is really useful. We've always had a scenario where maybe we've had a very strong performance with Mitch, but we haven't necessarily had the ability to have another car, another driver up there fighting for the podium. So it is something that we are very excited about this season.”, Said the team-manager.
Barclay stressed that Bird is a British driver racing for a British brand like Jaguar does not go unnoticed: “I know you are very excited to drive for Jaguar, following in the footsteps of some iconic Jaguar drivers in the past, especially as a British driver. I know it is something he is very proud to do in his career and we are very proud to have him on the team. So yeah, we can't wait to see how he performs in his first year with us. ".
On the new car that Jaguar will have for the 2020-2021 Formula E season, which will start on February 26 and 27 in Ad Diriyah, Barclay commented: “The new Jaguar I-Type 5 is a really exciting car for us, our fifth Formula E car with over 1.000 new components. We want to improve efficiency, dynamic performance and all the areas that we know are really important for Formula E ”.
