JAS Motorsport presents the new 2018 Honda Civic Type R TCR

The JAS Motorsport team will put the new TCR-spec Honda Civic Type R on track to compete in this international championship starting next year.

The Civic Type R TCR is based on the 2017 model launched this year and that part of the development with which its predecessor model has participated with great success in the category since 2015.

Key new features include a completely new exterior design featuring a spectacular aerodynamic pack designed to offer minimal drag and increased ground effect.

The rear suspension system is now multi-link type and also has a stabilizer bar, these characteristics together with a stiffer, lighter and longer wheelbase body, ensure an important advance in terms of dynamism and stability.

The electronics are also improved by a new electronic control unit (ECU), while the roll cage has been improved according to FIA specifications.

In addition to the TCR version, a version prepared for endurance races will also be available, such as the VLN Endurance Championship and 24-hour events. For these competitions, the Civic Type R will feature an additional lighting system, cabin climate control and anti-lock braking system.

The new Civic Type R TCR maintains the long and successful collaboration between Honda and JAS Motorsport, a fruitful relationship that began in 1998 and has been intensified over the years with the development of various racing products. It should be remembered that the prestigious Milanese organization was chosen by Honda to develop the first Civic Type R for competition both for circuit and rallies in 2001.

The Civic Type R developed by JAS contributed to Honda achieving a number of outstanding successes in competition such as the FIA World Touring Car Championship in 2013, the European Touring Car Cup, and the TCR Championships in Germany, the Middle East, Italy and Benelux. as well as the Macau Guia Race.

The start of deliveries of a first batch of 25 Civic Type R units with TCR specifications are scheduled from December 15 of this year, becoming part of the 19 models of different brands that already take part in this prestigious championship.
