The British Jenson Button, champion of the F1 in 2009, he believes that this season's top flight title battle between his compatriot Lewis Hamilton and the Dutch Max Verstappen reached a new level after the runway collision they had in the last Grand Prix of Great Britain.
“It will be a real battle from now on, which is good for us; but if it's good for them, I don't know! ", explained Button, who was Hamilton's partner between 2010 and 2012 when the two agreed on McLaren.
Button hopes that Hamilton and Verstappen will quickly leave behind what happened at the British GP, when they met in the middle of a fight for first place. The incident ended with the confusion of Verstappen, who hit hard against the containment rubbers of the Copse curve; and with the victory Hamilton despite a 10-second penalty.
“We just have to hope that (the fight) is done in the right way. I think the important thing, at least for me, is that they understand what happened, talk about it and move on ... ", Button finished.
