The American Ken Block, who has competed in the WRC, RallyCross and achieved world fame with his gymkhanas, joined forces with Audi to carry out innovative joint projects related to electromobility.
“Audi is the brand that ignited my passion for motorsports. I am very excited to start this new chapter. Together we will develop innovative projects and expand the limits of electric mobility ”, said the 53-year-old pilot.
Block was still a teenager when the Audi quattro revolutionized the World Rally Championship and Audi Sport quattro S1 assault Pikes Peak in United States. These vehicles sparked his desire to become a pilot.
Now, during his first visit to Neuburg, he made another dream come true: driving several historic racing cars of his favorite brand. Among them the Audi Sport quattro S1, Audi V8 quattro of DTM, the futurist Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo and up Audi RS e-tron GT, the most powerful electric vehicle that currently exists in the model range of the brand with the four rings.
Block considers himself a petrolhead, although he has also been testing and racing various electric cars. Tested an Extreme E car during the 2020 Dakar rally and won the inaugural race of the rallycross series Project E in Höljes (Sweden) that same year.
"Electric mobility is the future", assured Block, who until last year spent million liters of fuel to take advantage of the powerful engines of various vehicles that you have decided to put on sale.
“The electric car represents a leap forward for us as a society in creating something that, in addition to reducing emissions, I think will help us make the planet a better place. But not only that: it is also about performance ", Agregó.
“I love anything that makes me go faster and electric cars can do it. As for the sound, I have children who don't care. They think that the sound of electric cars is as great as that of cars with internal combustion engines ”, affirmed the Yankee.
Although Block and Audi did not elaborate on this partnership, it is assumed that all projects will be aimed at demonstrating the effectiveness of the electrical technology used by the new Ingolstadt brand products.
