Kia has shown the first images of the exterior and interior design of the EV6, his first specifically battery electric vehicle (BEV), in anticipation of its world premiere in March.
The EV6 has been designed under the brand's new design philosophy, "Opposites united", inspired by contrasts of nature and humanity. At the center of the design philosophy is a new visual identity that evokes positive forces and natural energy, with contrasting combinations of sharp stylistic elements and sculptural forms.
Featuring a distinctive crossover-inspired design based on the new Global Electric Modular Platform (E-GMP) from the brand, the EV6 is Kia's first BEV (battery electric vehicle) influenced by the new design philosophy, embodying Kia's shift in focus towards electrification.
“The EV6, as Kia's first dedicated electric vehicle, is a demonstration of progressive, human-centered design and electrified propulsion. We firmly believe that the EV6 is an attractive and relevant model for the new electric vehicle market ”, said Karim Habib, Senior Vice President and Director of the Global Design Center.
"With the EV6 we aim to create a distinctive and striking design by combining sophisticated and high-tech features in pure and rich volumes, while providing a unique space as a futuristic EV."
In the front of, the characteristic daytime running lights show a sleek and modern look. They are part of the "Digital Tiger Face" of the car, a design evolution that evokes the spirit of the "Tiger Nose" Kia for the electrified era. The design of the light clusters also includes a dynamic light pattern "sequential". In the lower area, a low air intake visually enlarges the front of the car, accentuating its high-tech image. As part of optimizing flow from the front, air is channeled through and under the flat car floor for optimal aerodynamics.
The side shows a modern, elegant and aerodynamic aesthetic, of crossover inspiration. This contrasts with the sharp lines and high-tech details to create a sense of tension in the design. A straight-lined windshield provides dynamism and purpose, while bold rear wings add volume. A character line runs along the underside of the doors curving towards the rear wheel arches, visually lengthening the car's profile.
Designed in part for maximum aerodynamic performance, the rear shows a sloping C-pillar and with an integrated glossy black insert, which visually widens the window glass. Above is a prominent roof spoiler that channels air into a raised lower spoiler, located above the car's unique rear headlight.
The interior design is a distinctive exponent of the age of electric vehicles. The E-GMP platform removes the constraints of previous Kia electric vehicles, based on the architecture of existing models. Compared to them, offers greater habitability. The interior design of the EV6 proposes an innovative use of space, creating a unique dimensional and driving experience.
