Alfa Romeo is one of the teams that has not yet confirmed its driver line-up for the season 2021 of F1. However, that does not mean that he does not have options, on the contrary there are several candidates to occupy his seats, which this year are owned by the Finn Kimi Raikkonen and Italian Antonio Giovinazzi.

One of the priorities is precisely Raikkonen. Iceman does not yet know if he will extend his stay at the Maxima beyond 2020. The team would like to have him one more year to take advantage of his experience. Just in case he has already maintained informal contacts with the Mexican Sergio Pérez, no place in Racing Point / Aston Martin; and german Nico Hulkenberg.

Kimi Raikkonen
Kimi Raikkonen would race in Formula 1 at the age of 42 if he decides to continue.

“We have to discuss the situation together. We will talk together soon to find out exactly what Kimi wants to do and what we want to do. We will find a solution ”, assured Fred vasseur, team manager, on the category's official site.

The second car would already have an owner: a driver from the Ferrari Pilots Academy, beyond the fact that Alfa Romeo insist that Giovinazzi has priority.

In fact, the tests that the German will perform Mick Schumacher in the first practice of the Eifel Grand Prix it could be taken with the official presentation of the future Alfa Romeo driver.

Beyond the surname, Mick has done enough merit in the F2 to be taken seriously. He leads the contest and is the best exponent of the FDA, which also has English well positioned Callum illot and Russian Robert Shwartzman, second and fifth, respectively; in the antechamber category of F.1.

Mick Schumacher
Mick Schumacher leads the Formula 2 championship.

“We have to discuss with Antonio to see what we want to do and also with Ferrari to find out what he intends to do on his side…. We are not in a hurry to make a decision, I think that for these young people the best thing is that they finish the championship first. It is important to have the final image and not start talks with the season in full swing ", Vasseur clarified.

Specifically about the pilots sponsored by the Scuderia, the team-manager was very clear: "All three are very good ... Shwartzman, as a rookie, is doing a solid job, as are Schumacher and Illot ... It is much better to be in this situation of being able to choose between good drivers than to have no other option."
