For a long time, the intention of the national government to bring the F1 to the Buenos Aires racetrack. The speculations have become reality after hearing some statements from the Argentine businessman Arturo Rubinstein, president of the production company Fenix Entertainment, regarding the negotiations it has with Liberty Media to retrieve the date in 2019.
"We are negotiating with Liberty Media to become the promoter of the GP in Argentina", Rubinstein said to the English newspaper The Independent. The executive also confirmed that it has the support of the national government, which would be willing to provide the 30 million necessary to renovate the Buenos Aires racetrack.
“The works to repair and improve the circuit will begin as soon as we sign the agreement to hold the race in Buenos Aires for a period of five years. In the opinion of an expert, the works can end six months after they start ”, the executive explained.
“Our preference is for the race to be held in 2019, at the beginning of the calendar. Another alternative is to have it in November, before or after Brazil ”, detailed Rubinstein, who confirmed that he has the backing of the government, the Automobile Club Argentino and "several companies that want to sponsor the event."
The last Argentine Grand Prix was held in 1998 and was won by the German Michael Schumacher (Ferrari).
