One month after finishing his eleventh rally Dakar Rally consecutive on a motorcycle, the Spanish Laia Sanz prepares his first four-wheel participation in a rally raid event. The debut of the Spanish pilot in this modality will be this weekend on the occasion of the Lower Dubai, scoring for the FIA World Cup of Cross-Country Lows.

It will be an excellent opportunity to prepare for its premiere on April 3 and 4 in the championship Extreme E, where he will take over at the wheel of an electric 4 × 4 with his compatriot Carlos Sainz in the team Acciona | Sainz XE Team.
The Catalan hopes to arrive in the best possible conditions to date, so she will try to make the most of it to "Train and learn for the Extreme E", account. "I need to do kilometers and, although it is a Baja and we only run two days, it will go very well for me, it will be very positive."
For this new challenge, Laia Sanz will have on her right Lucas Cruz, the usual co-driver of Carlos Sainz, with whom he has won three editions of the Dakar rally. “I am very grateful to Carlos Sainz for all the support he is giving me, and also to Lucas Cruz for accompanying me in this learning process. It is an honor and a luxury to have him in my first race. He has a lot of experience and I'm sure he will teach me and give me a lot of advice ”.
The multiple motorcycle world champion arrives at this first appointment with little preparation, but with maximum motivation to squeeze every kilometer of the competition: “I have only been able to do a couple of tests with a Can-Am, but it is different from the one I will drive in Dubai, so I start from scratch. It will be my first time in a buggy with a co-driver and almost everything will be new for me, but I like new challenges and I am very motivated. I hope to finish satisfied, to have learned to go through the dunes with a buggy, to listen to the instructions of a co-pilot, to drive on sand… ”.
The Baja Dubai will have a total of 426 kilometers And it will begin next Friday, February 19, with the dispute of the first of the two stages that will comprise the rally. It will be then when Laia will face her first 212 kilometers (192 of them, timed) on four wheels in an offroad competition. On Saturday the test will conclude after a second and final day that will provide another 214 kilometers to travel, of which 194 kilometers will correspond to the timed special.
