
The team Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team announced that the English Lewis Hamilton God COVID-19 positive and you will not be able to participate in the Sakhir Grand Prize de F1 of this weekend.
Hamilton was tested three times last week and returned a negative result each time, the last of which was on Sunday afternoon at the Bahrain International Circuit as part of the race weekend testing protocol.
However, he woke up Monday morning with mild symptoms and at the same time was informed that a contact prior to his arrival in Bahrain had subsequently tested positive. Therefore, the pilot took one more test and returned a positive result. This has since been confirmed by a new test.
The F.1 champion is now isolating in accordance with the COVID-19 protocols and the guidelines of the public health authority in Bahrain. Other than mild symptoms, he is otherwise fit and well and the entire team sends him their best wishes for a speedy recovery.
The team will announce in the next few hours who will be his replacement for the weekend.
