Originally, the 2021 season of the F1 it was going to be special because of a profound technical regulation change. However, the situation of the coronavirus pandemic forced to delay the modifications for the 2022 contest. Instead, the teams had to adapt the models used in 2020 to the subtle aerodynamic variations that were implemented in the attempt to reduce speed.
The four modifications they were a triangular cutout at the edge of the floor in front of the rear wheels, one reduction in the size of the rear brake duct fins, a decrease in the height of the two inner strakes closest to the car's centerline on the diffuser and the sealing of the grooves in the ground around the bargeboards.
Additionally, each team had two Tokens (wildcards) to work more deeply in any area of the car.
