El TCR South America It has allowed the Argentine public to see closely vehicles that are not usually marketed in this part of the world. The Lynk & Co 03 they are a good example. The brand is practically unknown in Argentina, partly because it aims its cannons at the European market and the other because of its youth, since it was born in 2017.
In the TCR South America there are two Lynk & Co 03 who are enlisted by the team PMO Motorsport de Paul Otero. As it happens in the WTCR, the Lynk & Co showed their credentials of winning car with the double victory achieved on the penultimate date of the tournament that was held in the Cordovan circuit of High grace. The victories were in the hands of the Uruguayan Santiago Urrutia and the San Luis Fabrizio Pezzini, who was also the poleman of the weekend.
In the inaugural season of TCR South America, the Lynk & Co won four races since Urrutia also celebrated in Rivera (Uruguay); while Ever franetovich led him to victory in Río Cuarto (Córdoba).
Lynk & Co is owned by the Chinese giant Geely, which also has in its portfolio Volvo Cars, Proton y Lotus cars. The 03 sedan, launched in 2018, is one of the nine models that has the brand in its line-up. It is completed with six SUV's, a hatchback and a compact. All use legacy Volvo architectures.
The Lynk & Co 03 is based on the CMA platform of the new Volvo S60 y S90, among others. The series version is marketed with a 1.5 Turbo three-cylinder engine with 156 CV and with another 2.0 Turbo from 190 CV. As a reference, the competition driver reaches the 350 CV.
In WTCR, the category that replaced the WTCC, the Lynk & Co product has won the last two titles at the hands of the French Yann Erlacher, the Cyan racing.
THE TCR SOUTH AMERICA IS LOOKING FOR A CHAMPION
TCR South America will define their first champion in two weeks, in Conception of Uruguay (Entre Ríos. The Spanish Pepe Oriola (Honda), second and fifth in Córdoba, leads the championship with 229 points, followed by the Brazilians Rodrigo Baptista (Audi) with 215 and Raphael reis (Honda) with 205. The coronation date will have 55 points at stake.
