The Spanish Marc Márquez, from the official team Honda de MotoGP, come back this weekend to Motorcycle World Championship after nine months of absence and three operations in between. The multiple champion will be in action at the Grand Prix of Portugal after having listened to the doctors and his body to return in full condition.
“It's a great feeling to be back in MotoGP, with my team and my bike. We have worked very hard to achieve it, many hours in the gym and with my physio Carlos ”, he recognized Cervera's.
After his fall in Jerez in the first Grand Prix of 2020 and injuring the humerus in his right arm, Márquez had to undergo surgery three times to correct what ended up being a infected pseudoarthrosis of that right humerus.
And, after a long recovery and nine months away from the circuits, he has been completing stages until he can return, this weekend in the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve and after missing the first two dates in Qatar.
“We would have liked to be in Losail, but eventually my doctors advised me against it and I listened to them. I have really focused on listening to the doctors and understanding my body so that I can go back to MotoGP and do what I love ”, acknowledged.
As for Portugal, third round of this 2021 championship, he pointed out that it has, "A little experience" on a track in Algarve where he barely did a test years ago, not being able to run last year. “The objective of this weekend is to work well. Little by little we are coming back and this is very positive after a long period ”He said.
