McLaren presented the new McLaren Arthur, a hybrid supercar that represents innovation, technology and a lot of sportiness. It is the first McLaren plug-in hybrid, which debuts a new and compact V6 engine accompanied by a very light hybrid system. Thanks to the presence of an electric drive, the acceleration capacity is immediate, making it the most efficient car in the history of the brand.
The McLaren Artura powertrain, conceived on the new carbon fiber platform called MCLA (McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture), is composed of a 6L Twinturbo V3.0 engine what does it pay 577 CV and 584 Nm of torque and another electrical 93.7 CV, 408 Nm of torque and a 7.4 kWh battery pack. The hybrid system weighs a total of 130 kg and its total power is 671 CV y 719 Nm of torque.
The transmission is double clutch and 8 gears; while the purely electric autonomy is 30 kilometers. The higher consumption, meanwhile, is 21 km / l in the WLTP cycle.
It is also equipped with electronic differential, suspension with adaptive dampers, carbon-ceramic braking system and 390 mm front and 380 rear discs, with six and four piston calipers respectively.
The total weight of the supercar is 1.498 kilos, so it is similar to that of rival models, but that do not have hybrid technology. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3 seconds and its maximum speed is around 330 km / h.
Inside, the Artura features interesting new features. Beyond being quickly recognizable as a McLaren, the presentation is extremely minimalist. For example, the steering wheel does not have any buttons because the controls related to the driving modes and the powertrain that are operated separately were moved to the side of the digital instrument panel. It is worth noting that the steering wheel and the panel move at the same time when adjusting the driving position.
The interaction with the Artura also has the following characteristics: touch screen in vertical format to control aspects such as navigation, the telephone, two-zone automatic climate control and the Bowers & Wilkins audio system composed of 12 speakers.
The McLaren Artura will begin sales in the UK during the third quarter of this year at a starting price of 257.300 dollars.
