Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the Project ONE prototype, the first road model to incorporate Formula 1 hybrid technology and will develop a power output of more than 1.000 horsepower. This two-seater, which will exceed 350 km / h, already shows many details of how the future series model will be.
It has a plug-in hybrid powertrain that comes directly from the 1.6 V6 turbo petrol engine used by the Mercedes-AMG Petronas team in the F.1. It will have a speed of up to 11.000 revolutions per minute, which will make it necessary to rebuild it every 50.000 kilometers so that it continues to perform at the highest level.
The system is associated with an eight-speed robotic manual gearbox and the 4MATIC + all-wheel drive system. Thus, the sports car accelerates from 0 to 200 km / h in less than six seconds, a time in which the vast majority of vehicles on the market are unable to reach 100 km / h.
Its entire body was designed to maximize its performance and improve its behavior. It has aerodynamic ribs, huge air intakes in the front, outlets in the hood and front wheel arches (here by way of flaps), sculptural rear-view mirrors, an air intake in the roof that ends up giving shape to a central wing, a huge spoiler and a very aggressive diffuser.
The taillights reproduce the graphic design of the AMG brand logo and the headlamps with three diamond-shaped light elements. As in the racing car, the doors of the new prototype of the German brand open forwards and upwards.
The cabin features a spherical architecture with a particular design of the windows and offers space for two people, with bucket seats with adjustable backrests integrated into the monocoque structure of the vehicle.
The steering wheel, with horizontal flat upper and lower section and integrated airbag, allows you to enjoy Formula 1 sensations, as do the two programmable integrated controllers with different adjustment functions or the LED gear indication attached to the top of the car. same.
Mercedes-AMG will only make 275 units of the Project ONE. All have already been sold at a cost of 2,5 million euros. However, the first units will begin to be delivered in 18 months.[sam_pro id = 1_20 codes = ”true”]
