The team Mercedes de F1 dominated the first day of free practice of the Hungarian Grand Prix with the finnish Valtteri Bottas ahead of his English partner Lewis Hamilton.

The eleventh race of the championship began with good news for the German team at a circuit where it has dominated in recent years with three consecutive victories for Hamilton, reaching Hungaroring determined to storm the leadership of the World Cup.

Bottas stopped the clock on 1:17.102 in the second session and beat the British by just 27 thousandths, both separated by three tenths to Max Verstappen (Red Bull), the fastest in the morning session. The Dutchman complained on the radio about the performance of his car and has work ahead of him to seek revenge at Silverstone, where he left without points after a touch from Hamilton.

Alpine left good feelings with the fourth place of Esteban Ocon and the seventh place in Spanish Fernando Alonso, who lost more than a second with respect to the leader. In the middle of both they placed the Mexican Sergio Pérez (Red Bull) and the French Pierre Gasly us AlphaTauri, the team that seems willing to argue with Alpine for dominance in the mid-zone.

As for the Ferrari, he did not even manage to place a driver in the Top 10 in a circuit that he arrived with good omens, taking into account that the slow pace of the track favors the red car. Thus, the Monegasque Charles Leclerc was eleventh and the Spanish Carlos Sainz twelfth, both 1,4 seconds behind the head.

Ahead were placed the Aston Martin German Sebastian Vettel (eighth) and the Canadian Lance stroll (tenth), as well as the McLaren of English Lando Norris (nineth).

The action will resume this Saturday with the third practice session and will continue with the classification that will define the starting grid of the competition.
