El MINI Electric Pacesetter, inspired by the John Coopers Works, is the new safety car of the World Cup Formula E. The car, which was created from the new MINI Cooper SE as part of a collaboration between MINI Design, BMW Motosport and the category, connects the brand's electrified future with the history of JCW racing.
The exterior of the MINI Electric Pacesetter designed for life on the court and represents the most dynamic interpretation of a zero-emission MINI. At the front, classic MINI icons, such as the circular headlights and hexagonal radiator grille, create its familiar and easily recognizable horn.
At the same time, characteristic John Cooper Works elements, such as wheel arches adapted to the car's track width and deep front apron with additional dividers on the left and right, enhance the sporty look of the front end.
“We have already shown how well they combine driving fun and electric mobility with the Mini Electric. However, the JCW-inspired Mini Electric Pacesetter goes one step further and combines the character and performance of the JCW brand with electric mobility. " said Bernd Körber, director of MINI.
"This extreme version of the MINI Electric has been developed as a safety car for Formula E, so it is clearly not intended for use on public roads, but it reveals one of the directions we could take with the electrification of the JCW brand.", clarified the executive.
The new MINI Electric Pacesetter will see the light for the first time at the e-Prix in Rome on April 10.
