The Catalan joins the Dakarian squad led by David Richards

El Bahrain Raid Xtreme (BRX), which will debut in the rally Dakar Rally in the 2021 edition, it already has its first confirmed driver: the Spanish Nani Rome, winner of this race in motorcycles (2004) and cars (2014).

“The ambition of all of us who are part of BRX makes me very excited. I am looking forward to this journey with the team. BRX exudes experience through all its pores and directing this experience to win the Dakar rally is an opportunity that could not be missed ”, explained Roma, who in the last edition of the demanding test ran to Borgward.

The BRX is the product of a joint venture between Mumtalakat, Kingdom of Bahrain Fund y Prodrive, the UK's leading motorsport company led by David Richards.

Richards, meanwhile, affirmed that the experience of Roma is very important for his project: “Nani is one of the most experienced Dakar drivers. He has competed in the rally 24 times and has achieved undisputed victories on both motorcycles and cars. He has already worked closely with the Prodrive engineers, providing their invaluable insights and, in the coming months, will carry out thousands of kilometers of tests in Europe and the Middle East. ".

The BRX will develop for the Dakar a T1 four-wheel drive car Powered by a 6-liter turbocharged gasoline V3.5 engine. The vehicle is based on Prodrive's experience competing at the highest level for more than three decades. The design is signed by Ian Callum, one of the leading designers in the world.

Prodrive has been working on the design of the car and engine since mid-2019 and the former is expected to be ready to roll in the coming weeks.
