Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has unveiled the prototype of its futuristic BladeGlider vehicle, which combines high performance with zero emissions in a revolutionary design sports car.

This vehicle, developed from the concept car shown for the first time at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2013, symbolizes future technologies that will combine intelligent mobility, respect for the environment with driving a sports car.

With the BlideGlider, Nissan's vision was to create a nimble and efficient electric vehicle, offering new dimensions of excitement and driving pleasure, a car that “glides” thanks to the quiet operation of its electric powertrain and its aerodynamic shape.

After two years of design, engineering and development, the Nissan BladeGlider has continued to evolve into an exciting, real study of the performance potential of advanced EVs. The BladeGlider embodies smart mobility, a philosophy that inspires more exciting cars by rethinking the way they drive, drive and integrate into society.

The demo models feature an advanced chassis setup with a narrow front track and a wider rear track for optimal aerodynamic efficiency and driving stability.

Its high waist, hinged rear doors and dihedral angle provide a fantastic entry and exit to the cabin. The BladeGlider's open roof, reinforced with an integrated roll-over protection structure, provides the thrill of riding an open-roof car with the safety of a coupe.

Its systems are integrated into the steering wheel controls and are controlled on an advanced screen, which shows speed, battery charge status, regeneration mode and the torque map. On both sides, two other screens project the images from the cameras installed just behind the front wheels. This dual screen design is an alternative to traditional door mirrors that improves the aerodynamic efficiency of the BladeGlider.

The driver sits on the arrowhead that outlines the shape of the cabin, slightly ahead of two passengers, who have ample legroom. Thanks to the spaciousness of the passenger compartment glass, all occupants can enjoy a panoramic view.

The motor is 100% electric, with exceptional performance thanks to motor and battery technology developed by Nissan's technical partner for the BladeGlider project, Williams Advanced Engineering. Top speed exceeds 190 km / h, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 5 seconds. Two 130 kW electric motors, one for each wheel, supply the rear-wheel drive.

The car has a torque-sensitive system, which controls the torque sent to the drive wheels and further improves the handling of the vehicle. In this way, if the car begins to understeer, the system detects it and automatically sends more torque to the outer wheel, thus counteracting understeer.

Designed to contribute to the driving experience rather than control it, the torque-sensitive system features three setting modes: off, agile, and drift.

Power is supplied by a high-performance, five-module, 220 kW lithium-ion battery, featuring specially designed cooling systems for both the battery and the motors.

The interior of the BladeGlider reflects its sporty spirit, with a 4-point seat belt for all occupants. The seats offer exceptional support to the sides and legs of both the driver and passengers. They are made with a mixture of fabrics that are extremely pleasant to the touch and have an epoxy resin coating, a material that stands out for its resistance and grip that makes passengers in their position comfortably and safely.

The upholstery offers two ranges of colors to choose from: Cyber ​​Green and Stealth Orange. These colors are used in the upper areas of the seat backs and are framed with a reflective silver material, which gives them an attractive and sporty touch. The seat base is upholstered in a black patterned material, with a green and orange stripe framing the seat.
