"It is a car sculpted from a block of Carrara marble." This is how Horacio Pagani defined his latest creation, the impressive Huayra Roadster that will be officially presented at the next Geneva Motor Show.
"If we think that the Huayra Coupé is the epitome of elegance and timeless lines, the Huayra Roadster was conceived to be its rebellious brother, molded and beautiful, but with the sharp edges of carefree personalities," added the Santa Fe builder.
The convertible version of the Huayra took six years of hard work, although now the new supercar from Pagani Automobili can boast of being lighter than the coupe version and also of having greater structural rigidity. These are attributes that stand out from the rest of the models of this type because normally roadsters tend to be heavier due to the need to add other structural points so that the chassis does not lose resistance in the absence of the roof.
For Pagani it was quite a challenge because he set out to "make the Roadster lighter than the Coupé, which was already the lightest hypercar on sale at the time." But thanks to the use of composite materials the new Huayra was lightened 80 kilos with respect to the Coupé, achieving a total weight of 1.280 kg. In addition, a torsional stiffness was achieved that is 52% higher than the original version, allowing it to withstand lateral forces of up to 1.8 G.
For obvious reasons, in this new example the "gull wing" door opening system was dispensed with and conventional doors were chosen, although that does not detract from its appeal. The front was also redesigned with a new front grill and the same happened with the rear diffuser. The aerodynamics were carefully worked on its carbon fiber body and now it has new active spoilers to cut the wind more effectively.
For the roof, two configurations were chosen: a rigid carbon fiber with a glazed part in the center and another made of textile material and carbon fiber that is less attractive, but easier to install and store in the trunk (ideal to make it in the face of sudden rain).
The Huayra Roadster is equipped with a 12-liter V-6-cylinder Mercedes-AMG engine that delivers 764 hp at 6.200 rpm and delivers a torque greater than 1.000 Nm from 2.400 rpm. The supercar has five driving modes: Wet Floor, Comfort, Sport, Race and ESP off.
A robotic manual box is used to control the power, which is now faster and lighter. While Brembo's brakes are also more effective and advanced (380 x 34 mm ceramic, with 6-piston front and 4-rear calipers). It has 20 "front and 21" rear wheels that are fitted with Pirelli PZero Corsa tires developed exclusively for this car.
Production is limited to 100 units, which are already owned. How much did they pay? 2.28 million euros. Of course, such a car is well worth it.
