La Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (ACARA) reported that the number of patented vehicles during January 2021 amounted to 49.438 units, which represents a rise in 9,9% year-on-year, since in January 2020 they had registered 44.972 units.
The list of best-selling cars is topped by Fiat Cronos with 5.224 units. Further back are the Toyota Hilux, 3.476; Peugeot 208, 2.230; VW Amarok, 2.157 and Ford Ranger, 1.839.
"We value and hope this growth of 10% compared to January 2020 pre-pandemic, we have been making a very great effort as dealers to meet this demand that in January was very active", explained Ricardo Salomé, head of ACARA.
"Except for January and December, which for a seasonal issue shows different numbers, we are optimistic that we can have a positive year establishing a level of activity with a floor of 430.000 patents in the year, if we have the offer and the necessary incentive measures", he clarified.
Finally he stated: “We know that the terminals are also accompanying this recovery and are going to increase the supply of vehicles in the coming weeks, which will facilitate the supply of units and models to be even more dynamic. With the effort that the entire value chain is making, we see it possible that not only our sector will grow but also drive other associated industries and be one of the axes of recovery ”.
Likewise, Rubén Beato, secretary of the entity, explained that: "It will be key to continue working at a very broad table on specific issues, dialoguing and adding ideas that can stimulate the domestic market. In this regard, we made several proposals from ACARA that will contribute to finding the most convenient stimulus measures for everyone."
