Pechito López analyzed the victory he achieved with Mike Conway and Kamui Kobayashi in the 4 Hours of Silverstone.
With my mind set on achieving the title of the World Endurance and win the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the most important competence of the specialty, Jose Maria Lopez decided to focus squarely on the endurance category. That is why he closed his chapter in the Formula E, where he did not achieve good results with the Dragon racing. Pechito's posture was well rewarded with the triumph in the 4 Silverstone Hours, at the start of the 2019/2020 WEC tournament.
López and his companions in the Toyota TS050 Hybrid N ° 7 of Toyota GAZOO Racing, English Mike conway and the Japanese Kamui Kobayashi, were the great protagonists on the English track. So much so that they started from pole and remained a benchmark in a race that also had the rain as a rival to beat.
"It's a very good way to start the season", López acknowledged, not only was he happy for his success, but also for the double that Toyota achieved with the second place of the Swiss Sébastien Buemithe Japanese Kazuki Nakajima and New Zealander Brendon Hartley.
“The race was very tough, both for our teammates and for the other competitors in the LMP1 class. Conditions were tough, but Mike and Kamui did a great job. I had to drive in the final section and I had to fight with Kazuki. I managed to keep the car forward so I am very happy ”, He added.
Finally, López indicated that this triumph was special for two reasons: "Because Silverstone is a special track and also because it was Mike's home race."
